The 41st Annual Bean Camping Tournament was held on November 15th & 16th at a new venue in Hempstead, Texas.

The tournament saw a sharp increase in attendance as 17 competitors battled for the trophy including:

→ 7 returning champions: James Bean, John "Senior" Bean, Jeff Bean, Danny Bean, Michael Muhs, Drew Lamont & John "J.T." Bean.

→ 8 returning players: Shane Bean, Chance McShan, Richie Wells, Paul Smith, Jordan Brown, Matt Lamont, Andy Huber & Ryan Terry

→ 2 newcomers "fodder": Braxton Bean & Asher Terry.

Heading into 2024 a myriad of questions revolved around the tourney. Specifically who and how many competitors would be in attendance and a lot of discussion around which events would be played. In spite of hearty discussions before and during the games, the ultimate events decided on were a repeat of 2023 with Croquet, Horseshoes, Washers, Cornhole, Putterball & Darts chosen as the 6 events for 2024.

On day 1, the tournament began with Croquet and Horseshoes. In Croquet, it came down to James and Michael. In typical Michael  Muhs fashion, he raced through the losers bracket with 5 straight wins, however his run came to a halt as James did not lose a single game and took first overall in the event. Similarly in Horseshoes, J.T. was shining bright like his Hshoes winning 5 straight games and taking 1st place. Despite playing late into the night, only two events were played and as the sun rose on Saturday, Danny had a slight lead with 6pts, closely trailed by JT (9), James (9), Drew (10), & Senior (11pts).

Day 2 began with Bags and Washers. In Bags, the bracket pitted JT, Drew and Danny into a pretzel that would leave 1 player with a tournament ending 17pts. To the surprise of most, Drew took back-to-back losses and fell out of contention. JT and Danny met in their second championship and this time Danny took 1st place. In Washers, Michael and James once again cruised their way through the event and in a repeat of 2023, they faced off in the Washer's championship and like 2023 Michael Muhs took 1st place.  JT and Danny took some big scores in washers (7pts & 10.5pts) which brought many players back into contention for the title.

As night fell on Saturday, the 5th event of Putterball was getting started. Through 4 events, JT and Danny were virtually tied with scores of ~17pts and 17.5 pts respectively. Trailing behind at their best possible scores were James (20.5) and Matt Lamont (23.5). JT quickly took back-to-back losses effectively ending his tournament, whilst James took 4th and Matt took 5th. Danny however did not loose a game and faced Chance McShan in the championship and claimed his second event of the games. With that win, Danny had a ~6pt lead over James and ~11pt lead over Matt. With little fan fair, Shane eliminated James from darts  and mathematically secured the victory for Danny.

With this win, it marks Danny's 8th overall victory and ties the record for most consecutive wins at 4-in a row. Below you will find links to the 2024 brackets, ScoreBoard as well a pictures to commemorate the 41st Annual Bean Campout:
