2009 Tournament
The 2009 Bean Camping Tournament was held on October 17th in Marin Dies Jr. State Park in East Texas. The competition was demanding as competitors from all over the state of Texas competed in 6 events for the title. The returning competitors were James E. Bean, Jeff Bean II, John T. Bean Sr., David C. Bean, James T. Bean, John T. Bean Jr., Daniel P. Bean, Shane C. Bean, Jim Bean, Ronald Siegler and Michael S. Muhs
The newcomers (fodder) to the Tournament were Aaron Lemoine, Chance McShan and Richie Wells.
The events were croquet, putt-putt golf, H-O-R-S-E, horseshoes, washers and darts. Each event was a double-elimination style bracket with points awarded based on place finished.
The results of each event were as follow
After all the events were played and the point were tallied, a tie of 72 points existed between James Bean and Jeff Bean. In said event, a tiebreaker ensued. All 6 events were put into a hat and Horseshoes was draw to settle the tie. In a final single game of horseshoes, James edged out Jeff (21-18). So after 20 continuous hours of play, at 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning James was crowned the victor of the 26th annual Bean Camping Tournament.
After all was said and done, the adage "History does repeat itself" was proven as accurately as ever. The final finishing places were as follows:
