2013 Tournament

The 2013 Annual Bean Camping Tournament was completed over the weekend of November 1st - 3rd, in Navasota, Texas. The lone man that emerged atop the leader boards as your 30th Bean Campout champion was none other than Michael S. Muhs for his second title.

There was no fodder in the 30th year of competition as 15 repeat competitors battled for the 2013 crown. The attendees were as follows:

James E. Bean - Jeff Bean II - John T. Bean Sr. - David C. Bean - David Anderson -  Michael S. Muhs - Daniel P. Bean - James T. Bean - John T. Bean Jr. - Shane C. Bean - Jim Bean - Ronald Sigler -  Richie Wells  - Grant Jones and  Rafael Rojas.

If the milestone of 30 years wasn't important enough, a big story loomed as the event approach. Jeff Bean had taken down back-to-back championships leading up to the 2013 tournament. The big question on everyone's mind was if Jeff could pull off the coveted three-peat? A feat only accomplished once before from 1999-2002 when James Bean won an unprecedented four in a row. Jeff had taken down his 9th victory in 2012 and had his eyes set on a record tying 10th championship which would carve him into the record books along with 10-time champion James Bean as the most victories of all-time.

While Michael Muhs had burst onto the scene in 2008 when he took his first championship at age of 21 (youngest ever), the past 5 years had some raising doubts if he was a one-hit wonder? Early on in the tournament Michael found himself in the losers bracket in the first few events requiring him to win a serious amount of games in a row to have a hope at the title. But with this two-time champion's machine like endurance, that was precisely what he did, placing highly in almost every event giving himself a monster lead going into Saturday.

As the last few events finished up, Michael found himself one dart throw away from victory. Michael need one "12" to win the entire tournament. Here is that moment that sealed Michael as our 2013 Champion.
