2014 Tournament
The 31st year of competition is in the history books as the 2014 Annual Bean Camping Tournament was held over the weekend of October 23rd - October 26th. The tournament had a new location in the middle of the Angelina National Forest, near the town of Broaddus, Texas (Sam Rayburn Lake area)..
It was another near robust year of attendance with 17 competitors from across the state of Texas. The repeat attendees were as follows:
James E. Bean - Jeff Bean II - John T. Bean Sr. - David C. Bean - Michael S. Muhs - Daniel P. Bean - James T. Bean - John T. Bean Jr. - Shane C. Bean - Jim Bean - Ronald Sigler - David Lawrence Bean - Richie Wells - Grant Jones - Paul Smith and Chance McShan.
There was one fodder (newcomer) in 2014, the young Andy Huber.
Leading up to the 2014 Tournament, the press was encapsulated with the narrative that the tide may be turning. After Michael S. Muhs’ sweeping victory in 2013, the younger generation had won 3 of the last 6 tournaments. Could this be the watershed moment that momentum was transferred to the youth?
By the halfway point of the tournament, that question had been forcefully answered “NO” as John Sr., James Bean, and Jeff Bean had commanding leads going into Saturday. And as the final event (darts) were being played into Sunday morning, we had our 2014 Champion.

Napoleon Bonaparte once said “One must change one's tactics every ten years if one wishes to maintain one's superiority.” Change or no change Jeff Bean II has been nothing but superior for 31 years of the tournament’s history taking home his record-tying 10th championship in 2014 and winning 3 of the last 4 campouts.
The press is already beginning to clamor if 2015 will be the year someone takes home #11...
