2019 Tournament

The 36th year of competition of Annual Bean Camping Tournament was held from October 24th to 26th of 2019 in the town of East Bernard, Texas.

Headed into 2019 all eyes were on "Daniel P. Bean” who was fresh off of back-to-back victories and seeking the exceptionally rare 3-peat. The challengers looking add their names to the Trophy were as follows:

Former Champions: James Bean, Jeff Bean, John Bean Sr., Michael Muhs, and John Bean Jr.

Challengers: Tyler Bean, Richie Wells, Chance McShan, Paul Smith, Andy Huber, Drew Lamont & Matt Lamont

No Fodder was in attendance.

In total the 13 competitors played the following six events: Croquet | HorseShoes | Washers | Cornhole (Bags) | Pool | Darts.

While some of these events hadn't been played in many tournaments, none were new to the Tourney.

The first two events of day 1 were Horseshoes and Croquet played concurrently. Drew Lamont made his presence known early as he delivered a devastating loss to Danny Bean in a first round match of HorseShoes sending him to the loser bracket where he would not return. As the games came to a close in the evening, James Bean took first in HorseShoes and John "JT" Bean Jr. took the #1 spot in Croquet. As darkness fell on the first day of games, the 3rd event of Pool was played to close the first half of the competition. Once gain James Bean took 1st place in the event along with the lead headed into Saturday.

And at the turn, James held first with 7 points, while the Lamont brothers quietly trailed behind him at 10 points for Drew and 16 points for Matt.

Bright and early on day 2, the games began with Washers and Bags. To little surprise Washers came down to James, Danny and the Lamont boys with Danny Bean taking first overall. Cornhole (Bags) however was not so kind to the Beans.

James fell victim to back-to-back losses against Paul and Chance effectively ending his tournament. As the old champ was falling behind, Drew Lamont was just hitting his stride, not losing a single match to take 1st overall in the event.

With one event (Darts) left to go, the crowd of not-to-be's were seeing the writing on the wall (and soon to be on the Trophy). Drew needed just 1 win against his beloved brother-in-law "JT" to seal the tournament. And with a consistency he carried throughout 2019 he got the deal done defeating JT and the other 12 competitors to win the Tournament.

With his first victory, Drew Lamont becomes just the 8th champion in 36 years. 2019 was only his 4th attempt in the games and with his trademark stoic demeanor is your 2019 Bean Camping Tournament champion. Full Brackets and your champion pictured below:
